Credit Card Processing

For nearly every merchant, credit card processing is a necessary capability to survive today. FDIS offers a reliable one-stop shop to help businesses not only survive, but thrive. We process most major credit cards: MasterCard, VISA, PIN-secured and signature debit, American Express, Diners Club, Discover Network and JCB cards.

FDIS merchants who can offer their customers a number of payment options not only enhance their customers’ shopping experience, but increase their own revenue-generating potential. In addition, FDIS agents can maximize their profits and build customer loyalty when they provide merchants the types of accounts that will bring the most revenue-generating opportunities to their businesses. Regardless of the business type, a merchant account from FDIS ensures state of the art processing -- a wide variety of terminals, including many wireless terminals, are always available.

Debit

The use and acceptance of debit cards has grown significantly over the past decade. Consumers may favor debit cards because the money comes directly out of their checking account, which can enable better financial management. FDIS offers both PIN-secured and signature-based debit card processing.

PIN-secured debit purchases use a secret personal identification number (PIN) to authorize purchases. The transactions are authorized in real time. The funds in the customers’ accounts are captured, and money is normally transferred into the merchant’s account in two to three business days.

Signature-based debit transactions are performed offline and do not require a PIN. They do, however, require the customer’s signature on the receipt. Because signature-based debit cards are processed through the same system as credit cards, they incur transaction fees and discount rates. Merchants who have existing credit card accounts can easily add signature-based debit processing to their list of payment options and broaden the number of payment options they provide to their customers.

Web-Based Processing

This option is for any merchant with a website or any merchant who wishes to process their transactions though a Global Gateway virtual terminal.

A virtual merchant account from FDIS enables automated processing for website orders and/or the manual processing of e-mail, telephone, faxed, mail order or face-to-face sales. This service also offers a great web shopping cart option. Our secure virtual terminal payment processor will process your transactions safely and efficiently with 24 hour/7 days a week customer service. It also includes the option of repeat billing at no additional charge.

Checks

Paper checks may not always be the most popular form of payment for many consumers because of time spent at the point of sale; however, First Data Independent Sales offers merchants a way to accommodate those customers who still prefer checks as a payment type by presenting them with electronic check acceptance. Through the Telecheck Warranty and Electronic Check Acceptance® (ECA®), merchants have the ability to electronically accept checks in a safer, more reliable and more profitable environment. With state of the art terminals, accepting checks on location is now easier than ever.

The TeleCheck service acts like an insurance policy for merchants when accepting paper checks as TeleCheck automatically guarantees the full amount of any check it approves, provided that the merchants have met all its requirements.

The TeleCheck ECA program converts paper checks electronically at the point of sale and transfers the money from the customer's account to the merchant's, acting in many ways like a debit card payment.

EBT

Electronic benefits transfer (EBT) is an electronic system that allows recipients of government benefits to authorize an electronic benefits transfer to a retailer in order to purchase products. EBT is also used in many states to issue food stamps. Recipients receive an EBT card and a personal identification number (PIN), similar to a debit card, which is connected to an account that is replenished on a monthly basis.

At the point of sale (POS), an EBT recipient's card is swiped through a terminal and the recipient enters the PIN number to access his or her account. The processor then verifies the PIN and the account balance, and sends an authorization or denial back to the retailer. If authorized, the recipient's account is then debited for the amount of the purchase, and the retailer's account is credited. No money and no food stamps change hands. Payment is made to the merchant through a settlement process normally at the end of the business day.
